Metropolitan
222 Amateur Radio Society
The
Metropolitan 222 Amateur Radio Society was founded on March 29,
2004, as a special interest group dedicated to promoting and encouraging amateur
radio
operation and activity, with
emphasis on the 1¼ Meter band, including but not limited to FM, SSB, CW and
digital modes.
The
Metro 222 ARC shall build, operate and/or maintain one or more amateur radio
repeaters as decided by the club membership. One of these repeaters shall be on
the 1¼ Meter band.
The
Metro 222 ARC will seek to promote activities that improve technical expertise
and fellowship among its members and the amateur radio community and will seek
to assist in activities that render a public service to the community.
The
W2SN repeater is currently operated and maintained in New York City, under the
auspices of the Metropolitan 222 ARS, on 224.600 / 223.000 MHz, with a PL
of 100 Hz.
The
first club event, the September 11th Memorial Station on Governors Island,
NY,
was held on September 11th, 2004. It was sponsored jointly by the Metropolitan
222 Amateur Radio Society and the Kings County Repeater Association.
Future
events are currently being planned and will be featured on this web site.
